The much-anticipated LEGO 40703 Micro NINJAGO City is finally available online, but not as a gift-with-purchase – instead, it’s in the Insiders Rewards Centre…
Kicking off a new four-part series of microscale NINJAGO City buildings on the same day the LEGO Group launches another four-part series of microscale shop gifts-with-purchase, 40703 Micro NINJAGO City boils down 2017’s 70620 NINJAGO City to a tiny 339-piece build. Originally revealed in January, it’s been a fair wait to see it appear on LEGO.com, but it’s now available at last.
That said: you won’t get it by spending a certain amount at LEGO.com or in LEGO Stores (as per 40680 Flower Store, which is free with orders above £180 / $200 / €200 from today through March 10 or while stocks last). Instead, you’ll need to head to the Insiders Rewards Centre, where 40703 Micro NINJAGO City is available for a cool 2,700 points.
That’s the same number of points required to redeem last year’s 40585 World of Wonders, and works out to roughly £17 in discount vouchers in the UK. But you’ll need to have spent more than £300 to rack up that many points in the first place (or £150 during double points events) – which means you’re looking at a minimum spend of £1,200 (or £600 during double points events) to have enough points for all four sets.
The LEGO Group has already confirmed that 40703 Micro NINJAGO City will be followed by 40704 Micro NINJAGO City Docks, 40705 Micro NINJAGO City Gardens and 40705 Micro NINJAGO City Docks, and while we don’t know for sure that the rest will also be Insiders rewards available for 2,700 points apiece, it’s tough to imagine any other scenario at this stage.
The alternative is picking them up on the aftermarket, where there will hopefully be a readily-available supply in the weeks and months to come. 40585 World of Wonders can be found on BrickLink for as little as £14.50 (plus shipping) in the UK, although the collectability and theme of the microscale NINJAGO City sets may see them reach higher prices than that.
For now, you can head over to the Insiders Rewards Centre to claim your copy of 40703 Micro NINJAGO City while stocks last. Once you do so, you’ll receive a code that can be added to any LEGO.com order within 60 days to receive your reward. More than 50 new LEGO sets have just launched at LEGO.com, so you shouldn’t find it too difficult to find something to buy…
