LEGO women’s football set 40634 Icons of Play available now

40634 Icons of Play – the first LEGO set based on women’s football – is now available online and in-store, complete with four exclusive minifigures of real-life footballers.

Included in 40634 Icons of Play’s box are brand new and exclusive minifigures of Sam Kerr, Megan Rapinoe, Y?ki Nagasato and Asisat Oshoala, along with 11 other generic characters to flesh out the matchday experience. The 899-piece set is available from today from LEGO.com and LEGO Stores, and retails for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.

Ordering 40634 Icons of Play today will automatically qualify for 40607 Summer Fun VIP Add-on Pack, which is free with orders above £45 / $50 / €50. 40589 Pirate Ship Playground is also still available in the UK and Europe with orders above £95 / €100, so adding a keyring and/or Collectible Minifigure should nudge you over the threshold for that one.

As well as its roster of 15 minifigures – which encompasses the four named players, a goalkeeper, manager, referees and spectators – 40634 Icons of Play includes half a football pitch, a stand, a winners’ podium, a dug-out and even a VAR (video assistant referee) station. The pitch is surprisingly big, stretching across a 32x32-stud footprint, but you will still need two copies (or your own bricks) for the full experience.

The minifigures of Oshoala, Nagasato, Rapinoe and Kerr all feature exclusive rear prints on their torsos, meanwhile, with shirts bearing their names and numbers. They’re all decked out in the same red kit, but there are two fans in the stands with the opposite blue kit (and an alternative goalkeeper strip), so two copies of the set should be enough for a five-a-side game.

40634 Icons of Play arrives on shelves well-timed for this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and is part of the LEGO Group's Play Unstoppable campaign.
