This year’s second LEGO Architecture set is now rumoured to be 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle, recreating the historic German palace for the first time in bricks.
Generally reliable source Clay_Bricks has reposted rumours of the second LEGO Architecture 2025 set that have been floating around the web for the past couple of days, giving them enough weight to merit a spot in our complete list of LEGO sets confirmed and rumoured for 2025. 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle is said to be following March’s 21062 Trevi Fountain in August, with 3,455 pieces in the box.
That puts it between the Roman landmark and last year’s 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris, though much closer in part count to the French building (which includes 4,383 pieces) than its Italian counterpart (which comes in at 1,880 pieces). No price tag is attached to this rumour yet, but given Notre-Dame retails for £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99, we can hopefully expect it to come in a little cheaper than that.
The final price tag will likely hinge on more than just the number of pieces – the size will also factor in – but you can see a mix of smaller and larger elements being used for 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle in the same way they were for 2023’s 21060 Himeji Castle. In fact, the German palace would likely share at least a little of its aesthetic with that Japanese fortress, given they’ve both got white walls, grey roofs and stone foundations.
When Neuschwanstein Castle began construction in 1869, it was envisioned as a private residence for King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who paid for the palace from his personal fortune rather than public funds. Unfortunately, he died before the castle was complete – but rather than let it go to ruin the state opened the building to the public in 1886. It now draws in more than 1.3 million people every year, reaching up to 6,000 visitors per day in the summer months.
Its architectural style is largely ‘Burgenromantik’ (in German), or castle Romanticism, but also draws inspiration from the operas of composer Richard Wagner, whom Ludwig revered. His vision for the castle was a romantic interpretation of the Middle Ages, and in a letter to Wagner the king wrote of his plans for a palace in ‘the authentic style of the old German knights’ castles’.

In short: this is another grand piece of global architecture underpinned by fascinating historical context, which is a well the LEGO Architecture theme has plundered successfully time and time again in recent years. Whether it can do the same again with 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle remains to be seen – not least because this is still only a rumour, and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed by the LEGO Group.
