The designer behind LEGO Marvel
The biggest of the LEGO Marvel sets launching in January is
"It's the original red and gold suit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, in my opinion, the coolest suit, which is why it's also the right choice for this model," shared designer Aaron Newman to MiniSuperHeroesToday.
Aaron's reasoning for this being the best Iron Man suit for a LEGO set goes beyond his own personal preference, though, noting something about more recent suits compared to those in the original movies.
"The other thing about the earlier Iron Man suits that I think makes this such a good fit for LEGO is that in Infinity War and Endgame, the nanosuit was very skin-tight and slick, but in the earlier Iron Man suits, there's that mechanical feeling which translates so well to LEGO, and the inherently blocky medium."
The bulky look of the earlier Iron Man suits may be harder to depict on LEGO minifigures with printing, but buildable figures can much more easily achieve their appearance than the more skin-tight modern suits.
