I want to believe these rumoured LEGO X-Files details are true

The first details on the upcoming LEGO Ideas X-Files set have surfaced, and it sounds like it’s right around the corner.

Instagram user itavix_bricks reports that 21369 X-Files will debut on August 1, 2026 for $199.99. It’s said to include 1,478 pieces, which is roughly 500 fewer than fan designer Brent Waller used for his original contest-winning submission.

Brent – or WetWired, as he’s known on LEGO Ideas – saw his X-Files model come out on top in last year’s ‘90s throwback challenge, ahead of entries based on Jumanji, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Fifth Element. The build as originally pitched consists of a three-tiered vignette: a UFO, a forest and Mulder’s basement office.

Given the disparity in piece count (Brent’s original submission uses around 2,020 parts), we may be looking at something substantially smaller than expected if these rumours prove true – but then few LEGO Ideas models emerge from the design process unchanged.

Also reportedly arriving alongside 21369 X-Files is a corresponding gift-with-purchase, numbered 40896, although any further details on that one are scarce. Keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more as we get it, and for now remember to take all LEGO rumours with a customary dash of salt.
