An upcoming LEGO Disney set is going to be perfect for simply modifying a BrickLink Designer Program Series 10 finalist into Pizza Planet.
LEGO Disney is focusing on Toy Story next month across three new sets, including 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride. It's one of the few LEGO models to be based on Pizza Planet, rather than just the green alien characters. It's far from the Pizza Planet set LEGO fans have been waiting for, but it's a good start.
One of the BrickLink Designer Program Series 10 finalists will pair well with 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride to create the Pizza Planet playset, or at least a decent facsimile of one. Rocknbricks31's The Space Cafe depicts a space-based diner with plenty of pizza on the menu and a Toy Story easter egg hidden inside. The fan design is all that has been revealed for this upcoming set, but the final versions don't tend to change drastically.
Provided that the final The Space Cafe set even partially resembles this initial proposal, it's the perfect foundation for a LEGO Pizza Planet. It even comes complete with the red rocket to the side. For this purpose, 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride's stickers will serve as an easy makeover.
The Space Cafe ultimately doesn't closely resemble Pizza Planet from Toy Story, but the two concepts are similar enough that you can make the conversion work in your collection. Making a fully accurate Pizza Planet building will require a great deal of pieces and a large budget, as lego_modular_building demonstrates.
The stickers in 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride include the restaurant's logo on a white 2x6 tile. This will fit perfectly above the entrance door. You might also consider making a full Pizza Planet sign to go on top of the building, which would require a greater budget.
Those with less money to spend can otherwise stick with the £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Disney model and the upcoming BrickLink Series 10 model.
Another sticker in the set has some graffiti referencing Sid from the film franchise. Applying this tile to the side alley in The Space Cafe is the most appropriate method of keeping this Easter egg.
The pizza build in 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride can be used in place of the 'Ready to launch!' sign on the BrickLink Series 11 set, though the base model also fits the space theme of Pizza Planet. Inside the rocket ride is a sticker with an iconic Pixar Easter egg that will fit in the arcade area as additional decoration.
With all of these stickers in The Space Cafe, you'd have a good Pizza Planet model that is more affordable than building something from scratch. You can then replace the pieces from the Disney set with undecorated versions.
43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride will be released on May 1 for £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99. It is currently due to retire just months after The Space Cafe would arrive at your door after crowdfunding. The Space Cafe has no set price yet, but this will come after the final design for the model is revealed.
