Four contenders for the rumoured LEGO Technic 1:8 car for 2026

With another LEGO Technic 1:8 car rumoured for 2026, here are some options for which vehicle could be up next at this scale.

LEGO Technic has released a 1:8 scale supercar every two years since 2016, and that rhythm is rumoured to remain in 2026, with 42232 said to be coming later this year. Rumoured to be hitting shelves in July and costing $$449.99 / €449.99, further details are low on the ground as to what this could be, but there are a few likely options on the table.

Koenigsegg Agera

LEGO Technic has already visited Koenigsegg cars in the past in the form of 42173 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Grey Hypercar and 42184 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut White Hypercar, so perhaps 2026 is the time to recreate the car brand at the largest scale. The Koenigsegg Agera was in production between 2010 and 2018, breaking five world speed records for production cars in 2017, including the highest speed on a public road.

It looked good while doing it as well, striking a unique silhouette with its sculpted roof and dihedral synchro-helix doors, with a carbon fibre chassis and a seven-speed gearbox under the hood.

Pagani Huayra

Pagani has shown up in LEGO Speed Champions before, but the powerful look of the brand's cars, as well as the engineering within, deserve a spot in LEGO Technic as well. Specifically, the Pagani Huayra is a strong contender. The mid-engined supercar boasts over 700 bhp and 728 lb-ft of torque.

A nifty feature that would be fascinating to see rendered in Technic form is the four independent flaps at the corners, which function as airbrakes and manage downforce. Aesthetically, no detail has been overlooked, with even its wing mirrors designed to look like a woman's eye for extra flair.

Aston Martin Valhalla

Another potential candidate is the Aston Martin Valhalla, a supercar designed with Formula 1 technology and active aerodynamics in mind. It debuted an all-new eight-speed Dual Clutch Transmission and a rear-mid-mounted 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine.

From the outside, it's got the signature Aston Martin look, with ridged headlights and a punchy front grill that are sure to pack quite the visual punch as a LEGO Technic set.

A return to Porsche

We've been discussing car brands that haven't yet been rendered as LEGO Technic cars at this scale yet, but the LEGO Group could choose to cycle it back to the beginning with a Porsche, just as this collection started 10 years ago. A strong choice to continue on from 2016's 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS could be the Porsche 918 Spyder – a classic but one still held in high esteem by many Porsche fans.

With two electric motors and a V8 combustion engine, it was one of the highest-performing hybrid cars of its time, in production from 2013 to 2015.

Of course, this is all just speculation and we won't know for sure what could be next for the 1:8 Technic collection until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group.
