LEGO The Simpsons is rumoured to be making a comeback in 2025 with 10352 Krusty Burger, so here are five deep cuts from the show that could satisfy hardcore fans.
The LEGO Group is said to be returning to Springfield for the first time since 2015’s 71016 The Kwik-E-Mart, one of just two LEGO The Simpsons sets (aside from the two Collectible Minifigures series and LEGO Dimensions packs), with what may be a $229.99 recreation of the town’s most iconic fast food restaurant. 10352 Krusty Burger is thought to be arriving sometime around spring or summer 2025.
We’ve already ruminated on the essence of what such a set could offer, but this list is for the Simpsons nerds ('NEEEEERD!') in the back. Whether you religiously treat the first 10 seasons (give or take) like the holy texts that they are or are happy to dive into any of the show’s 36 seasons and counting, these deep cuts, references and memes should all be on your shortlist for 10352 Krusty Burger.
5 – Give me 700 Krusty Burgers
The classic Season 5 episode ‘Boy-Scoutz ‘n the Hood’ sees Homer, Bart, Ned and Rod Flanders lost at sea after losing their way on a father-and-son rafting trip. Just when all hope seems lost, Homer catches the scent of a Krusty Burger on an offshore oil rig, where Krusty himself is lamenting the store’s lack of custom. (“We tried to tell you these are unmanned oil rigs!”)
Cue Homer bursting through the door and yelling: “Give me 700 Krusty Burgers!” While 10352 Krusty Burger probably wouldn’t be based on this specific chain, it would be neat to get a tray with a mountain of burgers (maybe using a new piece) as a sly reference to this episode. Homer in his tattered clothes and Bart in his boy scout uniform are probably a little too much to ask for, though.
4 – Your window to weight gain
Remember the wise words of everyone’s favourite Hollywood Upstairs Medical College graduate Dr. Nick Riviera: “If you’re not sure about something, rub it against a piece of paper. If the paper turns clear, it’s your window to weight gain.” That’s the timeless advice he gives in Season 8’s King Size Homer, which sees Homer trying to reach 300 pounds to qualify for disability and work from home.
Part of that journey sees him slouched against a booth in Krusty Burger having just devoured too many burgers to count. Bart pushes him to go for one more, but Homer doubts a fish sandwich will do the job – so Bart rubs it against the wall, which turns clear (and creates a would-be tunnel for a nearby bird). All the LEGO Group would need to do for this one is replace a small section of wall with a few trans-clear elements.
3 – Do we sell French… fries?
“Come in, come in! Mayday! I’m losing your transmission!” Those are the words of Abe Simpson – not on a submarine, but working the drive-thru at Krusty Burger. Grampa’s job at the fast food joint in Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy is one of Season 5’s best subplots (and there are a lot of gems to choose from), not least for how he ultimately quits. (“I never once washed my hands! That’s your policy – not mine!”)
A gaggle of random Springfield old folks to carry him out (or try to carry him out, we should say) probably isn’t on the cards, but a Grampa Simpson minifigure in full Krusty Burger uniform has to happen. As does the Squeaky-Voiced Teen, or as he’s referred to in this episode, Mr. Peterson.
2 – And you call them steamed hams despite the fact they are obviously grilled
You knew this one was going to make the cut somewhere, and it’s one we’ve already mentioned in our initial list of Krusty Burger must-haves, but we couldn’t ignore it here. It’s probably the most iconic scene associated with the restaurant and it doesn’t really even take place there, but the steamed hams segment of Season 7’s 22 Short Films About Springfield has taken on a life of its own over the past few years.
The LEGO Group has already embraced meme culture in recent sets and would do well to do so again here, and it would be a perfect excuse to plug two major gaps in the LEGO Simpsons minifigure universe with Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers. Is it too much to ask for a gift-with-purchase of Skinner’s dining room, complete with a door that barely conceals a wall of trans-orange bricks (or the northern lights)?
1 – Stop, stop, he’s already dead
Homer’s exploits as a Krusty the Clown understudy in Season 6’s Homie the Clown are legendary, but it’s his job introducing the chain’s new burger – the ‘one with ketchup’ – that makes most sense to reference in a potential LEGO The Simpsons 2025 set. After ‘parachuting’ on to the scene, Homer proclaims the new burger for sale, bungles a cartwheel and proceeds to beat the Hamburglar to within an inch of his life.
‘Stop, he’s already dead’ is one of those endlessly quotable golden-era Simpsons lines, and a sly reference to it in 10352 Krusty Burger would show that the designers have their fingers on the pulse of the Simpsons community – whether that’s through a Hamburglar minifigure or (more likely) some kind of stickered tile alluding to the new ketchup burger.
Remember that at this stage the return of LEGO The Simpsons is still just a rumour, so don’t take it as gospel until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. For now, head here to check out every LEGO set confirmed and rumoured for 2025.
