The May 2026 LEGO sets come with a fantastic assortment of new minifigures, from real celebrities to a recreation of a different company's toy.

Whether you're feeling nostalgic for past LEGO themes, want to complete the LEGO Toy Story character collection, or are a fan of a certain footballer or Formula 1 driver, there's a May 2026 set for you. It's going to be an exciting month for the world of minifigures, with several firsts for the portfolio on the same day.

You can see what sets are launching in May by clicking here. Read on to take a look at some of the best LEGO minifigures in the May 2026 sets, all of which will be released across new models at the start of next month.

Slinky Dog

Starting with something that is definitely not a traditional minifigure, LEGO Slinky Dog has been long-awaited since Toy Story sets debuted in 2010. He's finally here with a flexible figure in 43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends, marking the start of a partnership between the LEGO Group and Slinky owners Just Play.

It's a rare example of the LEGO Group recreating another toy company's property, such as Hasbro with Transformers and Dungeons & Dragons. In this case, that property is a toy rather than an overall IP, though.

Lionel Messi

Multiple new minifigures are coming from LEGO Editions next month based on real footballers. Lionel Messi from 43011 Lionel Messi – Football Highlights has earned a spot in this list. The presence of tattoos on the minifigure adds a level of detail that we don't often see in the world of LEGO, giving Messi's minifigure an advantage over the competition.

Lewis Hamilton

Both current Formula 1 Ferrari Drivers are finally getting minifigures next month after being featured in promotional material for years. Lewis Hamilton in 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet is one of those two minifigures. It beats that of 43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet for including a new hair piece that is sure to be useful for other custom minifigures.

Dennis Nedry

The Dennis Nedry minifigure in 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler is nothing new for the LEGO portfolio, but it is sure to appeal to enthusiasts despite this. Anyone new to LEGO Jurassic World will be glad to see the iconic Barbasol can present, as well as the two face prints and additional hair element.

It's a crucial Jurassic Park minifigure to have in your collection, and this set is your only option to pick it up without heading to the secondary market.

Bionicle Cosplayer

Picking just one minifigure in 71052 Series 29 for this list wasn't easy, but at the end of the day, there was only one option. Tahu's return via the new Bionicle Cosplayer is a huge milestone for the world of minifigures, finally bringing Bionicle's more obscure playset models back in some form.

It also demonstrates another method to bring Bionicle back, eschewing the original constraction features entirely. Whether Bionicle returns as minifigures fully or not, the Bionicle Cosplayer is one of the best and most nostalgic minifigures in 71052 Series 29.
