Amidst a handful of remakes and familiar faces, here are five new things the first wave of LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian & Grogu sets bring to the table.
They may be dominated by a new X-wing, new Razor Crest and the return of Din Djarin, Grogu and even Zeb Orrelios, but April’s LEGO Star Wars sets – which are the first to accompany a new movie release since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 – also have plenty of novelty about them. Dive in for five new things we’ve spotted across these 2026 releases…
A new Grogu mould
Out with the old, in with the new: 2019’s longstanding Grogu mould has been replaced by a new and improved version in 2026, which is making its debut in 75444 AT-RT Attack, 75445 Anzellan Starship and 75447 The Razor Crest. The new mould includes Grogu’s collar for the first time and better reflects the shape of his torso. There are two variants to collect, too: one in his regular outfit and one with what is apparently some Beskar armour on the torso.
Someone else’s X-wing

For the first time in LEGO Star Wars history, we’re getting a T-65 X-wing Starfighter that doesn’t belong to Luke Skywalker. The only minifigure-scale playset versions that have belonged to other pilots have been alternate designations for Luke’s Red Five ship in 6212 X-wing Fighter and 9493 X-wing Starfighter, so 75460 New Republic X-Wing Starfighter breaks the mould by serving up a completely different X-wing.
This one belongs to Carson Teva (or perhaps Colonel Ward, given they’re both included in the box) and is tinted blue rather than red. It’s a small difference all told but in a sea of Red Five X-wings, it’s one that veteran LEGO Star Wars fans should find at least a little novel.
Carson Teva

Did you catch that mention of Carson Teva? The Mandalorian’s second-most-recognisable X-wing pilot (after Dave Filoni’s Trapper Wolf) is making his LEGO Star Wars debut in 75460 New Republic X-Wing Starfighter, ticking off another box on the laundry list of Mando characters that still need minifigure representation. His unique face print and helmet are both a great match for Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s appearance in the show, too.
A ship scaled to tiny aliens

We’ve had LEGO Star Wars sets scaled to minifigures and microfigures, at microscale and at Ultimate Collector Series scale – but this might just be the first time we’ve seen a LEGO Star Wars ship scaled to babies. Or one baby and a couple of aliens pitched at the same size, anyway, in Grogu and the Anzellans. 75445 Anzellan Starship serves up a LEGO ship with a unique sense of scale, from the cockpit to the interior. You won’t be fitting any regular minifigures in there…
Dual-moulded arms

Believe it or not, Zeb Orrelios (who returns in 75447 The Razor Crest) is the first LEGO Star Wars minifigure to get dual-moulded arms, a full 12 years after they were first introduced to LEGO minifigures as a whole. Quite why it’s taken this long (when there have been plenty of potential candidates for the tech already) is anyone’s guess, but fingers crossed this is just the beginning for a galaxy far, far away.
All five new The Mandalorian & Grogu LEGO Star Wars sets hit shelves in April, with the X-wing debuting on April 1 and the rest following on April 26. Check out the table below for a full rundown of the wave, including prices and piece counts.
