Not all LEGO themes are created equal, and as we head into 2026 there are some that clearly need (and deserve) a little more love and attention…
Whether they’re restricted to one character, only serve up a handful of sets per year or have untold untapped potential, there are plenty of themes in the wider LEGO portfolio that feel like they could be delivering so much more than they currently do. With one eye on 2026 and beyond, here are five LEGO themes that deserve more love from the LEGO Group in the months and years ahead.
LEGO DC

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first: LEGO DC is perennially overlooked in the stable of superhero themes in favour of Marvel, and it’s high time the wider DC-verse got its due beyond Batman. But we say that every year and will probably continue to keep banging this drum/beating this dead horse in 2026, 2027 and beyond, especially with only four LEGO Batman sets currently confirmed for next year. Oh well.
LEGO Horizon

The LEGO Group hasn’t shown Horizon a whole lotta love since acquiring the rights to the video game franchise in 2022, and that’s especially surprising given Studio Gobo Guerrilla Games cooked up an entire LEGO Horizon video game in 2024.
LEGO One Piece

You might be surprised to see LEGO One Piece on this list given the theme only hit shelves in August and started off strong with its debut wave, but it feels like the LEGO Group has really only scratched the surface of this series so far. Six more sets are currently rumoured for 2026, presumably tied to Season 2 of the Netflix show, but that still feels like too few – we’d love to see the LEGO Group go all-in on this one with the wide variety of play and display sets that Harry Potter gets, for example.
LEGO Monkie Kid

LEGO Monkie Kid’s heyday has seemingly come and gone, with only two sets hitting shelves in 2025 and none at all rumoured for 2026. The animated TV series is currently on hiatus, too – but with the current roster of sets scheduled to stay on shelves until the end of 2027, there’s clearly life left in it yet. Fingers crossed that leads to a resurgence later in 2026 (or even in 2027) for this unique LEGO theme.
LEGO The Legend of Zelda

While the LEGO Group has gone all-in on Super Mario and Animal Crossing (and is gearing up to go big on Pokémon too), The Legend of Zelda has enjoyed just the one LEGO set so far in 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1. A follow-up is confirmed to be on the way in 2026, but rumours suggest it’s another one-off 18+ set – and what this series really needs is a full wave of playsets. Here's hoping that comes in 2027 for the live-action movie, but in the meantime we’d love to see more than one release in 2026.
As well as looking back over 2025 we’re now looking ahead to 2026 in LEGO, and you can keep up with it all by heading here.
