Five LEGO sets you need to build (even if you don’t have space for them)

You might not have the space or budget for these LEGO sets, but you need to build them anyway – and now you can.

Some LEGO sets are so good that they deserve to be built by everyone, but their high price tags and dominating sizes are often significant barriers to entry for most of us. That doesn’t have to be the case, though: Brick Borrow will let you borrow LEGO sets, build them at your leisure and then send them back (repeat ad infinitum).

That’s a great way to experience building some of the best sets the LEGO Group has to offer without worrying about hurdles like cost or display space, especially as plans start at just £9.99 per month (find out more here). We’ve trawled through the Brick Borrow library of more than 1,000 sets to pick out five of the best builds available right now.

71043 Hogwarts Castle

The O.G. microscale Hogwarts has been on shelves for going on eight years now, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s had a go at it. For one thing, it’s pretty expensive (and the RRP has only gone up since release in 2018). And for another, it’s pretty massive: good luck finding somewhere to display it. And that’s a shame, because even eight years on it’s still a building experience to behold. You’ve never put together a microscale set quite like this one…

72037 Mario & Standard Kart

One of our favourite LEGO sets of 2025 earned that accolade not only for looking the part, but also because it’s basically the best build the LEGO Super Mario theme has ever conjured up. 72037 Mario & Standard Kart is the sort of set that’ll have you wondering how long the designers must have been sitting there to come up with these techniques, and you can’t say better than that.

75367 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser

LEGO Star Wars 75367 Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser review featured image

The biggest LEGO Star Wars prequel trilogy UCS set to date is retiring at the end of 2026, and if you can’t justify the amount of space it takes up (or the price tag) you owe it to yourself to get it from Brick Borrow if only to see how it all comes together. It’s a behemoth in all the right ways and incredibly satisfying to assemble, especially if you’ve yet to experience any of the LEGO Star Wars UCS capital ships.

10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D

If we’re talking sets that are unwieldy to display but very fun to put together, 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D is surely right up there. The inaugural LEGO Star Trek set boldly goes where LEGO Icons never has before, with a design that in some ways appears to defy physics, and it’s a genuine joy to build regardless of how intensely grey it is.

10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell

Is Rivendell the greatest LEGO build of all time? It’s hard to think of anything that tops it right now, and even casting our minds back through LEGO history we’re struggling for a real competitor. Every inch of this set demonstrates why it took a fellowship of 11 designers to bring to life, with incomparable building techniques and parts usage across the board. It’s big, it’s expensive, and you should 100% build it anyway.

Thanks to Brick Borrow, that’s now a realistic prospect no matter your budget or display space. Head over to the site to sign up and start picking your first set(s) today.
