Five LEGO June 1 releases to wait for a discount on

Five LEGO June 1 releases to wait for a discount on

Hold your horses! Here are some June 1 LEGO releases that it might be better to wait a while before buying.

June 1 is an exciting LEGO shopping day and you're sure to already have some sets on your wishlist. Before you get too carried away with adding to cart on the day itself, however, there are a few sets that it might be worth waiting for a discount on.

Once sets are a few months old, it's common to see discounts on them, either from third-party retailers or from the LEGO Group itself. This can be down to lack of interest at full price, special promotions, or just the set aging out of the LEGO Group's primary focus. (You can stay up to date on all the latest LEGO deals and offers from a number of retailers by checking out Brick Fanatics' dedicated deals page here.)

Looking ahead to June 1 releases, we've picked out a few that it might be smart to wait for a better price on, for a number of different reasons. Here are five LEGO sets that are soon to release – but can perhaps wait a while longer before making it into your collection.

5 – 60368 Arctic Explorer Ship

LEGO City 60368 Artic Explorer Ship 6 1024x768

LEGO City has a number of new sets coming from June 1 and 60368 Arctic Explorer Ship is one of the biggest. While it's an impressively large and good-looking boat for the price, 60368 will likely get discounted eventually. Even a 10 or 20% discount could save you between £12 and £24, which is no small amount for a set of this size. As a theme, LEGO City often has promotions both with the LEGO Group and third-party retailers, so this is one we would advise sitting on for a few months at least, to see if a better deal will pop up that will make this boat an even more attractive buy.

4 – 43215 The Enchanted Treehouse

LEGO Disney 43215 Magical Treehouse 5 1024x1024

43215 The Enchanted Treehouse is an undoubtedly exciting set, bringing a number of Disney princesses into LEGO for the very first time. However, its sizable population of minidolls has hiked the price up to a whopping £149.99 / $159.99 / €169.99, which we don't think is reflected with what you actually get in the box. As explained in more detail in our review, we'd estimate the build itself to be worth around £100, with the structures themselves feeling insubstantial after the price you've paid for it. It wouldn't take much of a discount to bring the price back into what we would call worth it, so our advice is to hold out for these rare and exclusive minidolls until 43215 is a little kinder to your wallet.

3 – 76961 Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack

LEGO Jurassic Park 75961 Visitor Center T. rex Raptor Attack 6 1024x767

Our main takeaway when we had 76961 Visitor Centre: T.rex & Raptor Attack for review is that it certainly doesn't feel like the largest set in a highly-anticipated classic Jurassic Park wave. When you compare the price per piece of the upcoming Jurassic Park/Jurassic World wave to pretty much any other set, it's eye-wateringly more expensive, largely down to the dinosaur moulds. Unique, printed elements are costly and it shows in 76961, so we'd recommend getting your hands on the T.rex at a later, more reasonably priced date.

2 – 75358 Tenoo Jedi Temple

LEGO Star Wars 75358 Tenoo Jedi Temple 9 1024x767

The majority of sets aimed at younger audiences of 4+ are generally bad value for adult fans and LEGO Star Wars 75358 Tenoo Jedi Temple is no exception. It might be the first ever LEGO Star Wars set based on a Jedi Temple and the minifgures are certainly unique, but the child-focused price inflation puts this way beyond the realms of 'good value'. Luckily, kids' attention spans are short, so you may well soon see this set at a better price after its release.

1 – 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts

LEGO Harry Potter 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts 8 1024x769

An iconic moment in Harry Potter history, an epic battle in the Wizarding World – all captured in just 730 pieces. Considering this is the most climactic event of the franchise, we were expecting a little more from 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts. Nonetheless, the minifigures are worth a look. The majority of LEGO Harry Potter sets have historically focused on Harry's earlier years, so it's fun to get his adult version here (although there's room for improvement when it comes to Bellatrix). Plus, this set will form a central part of a modular Hogwarts Castle, so it may well be a necessary purchase for those putting that together – but we'd once again advise waiting a while to see if a better price pops up.
