First LEGO 2026 reveal is Speed Champions Disney Cars set

LEGO Speed Champions is taking its strangest turn yet in 2026 by visiting the world of Disney and Pixar's Cars, confirming the first 2026 build.

It's officially the start of the LEGO 2026 set reveal season, with the unveiling of 77255 Lightning McQueen, the first LEGO Speed Champions set confirmed for 2026. This build commemorates the 20th anniversary of Disney and Pixar's Cars movie (which will be on July 28, 2026) by depicting the four-wheeled protagonist using 270 pieces and a plethora of stickers. You can spot a logo for this anniversary on the bottom right of the box art.

This is undoubtedly the strangest turn yet for LEGO Speed Champions, which has just spent most of its year celebrating all things Formula 1, now steering towards movies like never before by presenting a living car character and absolutely no accompanying minifigure. Aside from polybags, this is the first LEGO Speed Champions set to include no minifigure.

77255 Lightning McQueen features the smile of the Cars character and sponsor decals across his body, many of which appear to be stickers. However, the designs for the tyres and wheel arches appear to be printed, although this has yet to be confirmed.

77255 Lightning McQueen is available to pre-order now worldwide for £22.99 / $27.99 / €27.99, launching on January 1, 2026. This appears to confirm that LEGO Speed Champions sets will be subject to a price increase in the US in 2026, like in 2025.
