First image for LEGO Super Mario 2023 set appears online

We can now see more of the mysterious LEGO Super Mario set that appeared on the Building Instructions page.

After a picture-less listing appeared on the LEGO Group's official Building Instructions page, we didn't have a lot to go on for what the set would include. Now, a single image has also been spotted, giving us a better look at the upcoming set.

71422 Picnic at Mario's House Expansion Set appears to be on the smaller side, with a simple doorway and two windows as part of the main buildable section, populated with what looks like a buildable Yellow Yoshi. He's apparently come to Mario's house via boat for a picnic, judging from the name and the array of brick-built food items ready for them to enjoy.

This isn't the first time we've seen Yellow Yoshi, as he already appeared in LEGO Super Mario 30509 Yellow Yoshi's Fruit Tree Expansion Set. Still, as this is listed as an expansion set as well, we can assume that 71422 Picnic at Mario's House Expansion Set will also be compatible with the existing LEGO Super Mario playable sets.

With the entire theme set to retire by the end of 2024, this may well be one of the last new sets that we see coming to the theme, if the LEGO Group is planning to either end or revamp its LEGO Super Mario offering. Whichever way it goes, we'll be sure to keep you updated, as well as with more information on 71422 Picnic at Mario's House Expansion Set, such as price, piece count, and precise release date. For now, we only know that it will be on its way sometime in 2023.
