You can add one of the most intimidating beasts from The Lord of the Rings to the newly released LEGO Minas Tirith model using a well-priced 3-in-1 Creator set.
With 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith now available early for LEGO Insiders, fans are already clamouring to find ways to expand the 8,278-piece display.
On the subreddit r/lego, user VaneStream shared an impressive alternate build of a Mumakil (also known as an Oliphaunt) using only parts from 31381 Fierce Shark with Treasure Chest.
The result is a surprisingly effective brick-built version of the colossal, elephant-like war beasts seen during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, as depicted in both J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels and Peter Jackson’s film adaptations.
While the build is slightly smaller in scale than its on-screen counterpart relative to minifigures, it still blends impressively well with the newly released Minas Tirith set, capturing the creature’s presence.
Builders can find instructions for the Mumakil on Rebrickable for €4.99, but this does not include the £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99 cost of 31381 Fierce Shark with Treasure Chest.
This isn’t the only battle-themed expansion fans can add to 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith. The gift-with-purchase 40893 The Lord of the Rings: Grond also provides an opposing force, alongside a siege tower build, which had instructions distributed during in-store launch events for the set.
11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is available now for LEGO Insiders and will launch widely on June 4, priced at £579.99 / $649.99 / €649.99. The set also includes the aforementioned gift-with-purchase, available until June 7 or while stocks last.
