There’s a new LEGO Star Wars lightsaber hilt (of sorts) on the way next month, and it stands out in more ways than one when stacked up against the rest of the collection.
Buildable LEGO Star Wars lightsaber hilts have been occupying gift-with-purchase slots sporadically since 2020, and 40917 The Darksaber is joining the line-up for this year’s May the 4th celebrations. The 278-piece model is free with all LEGO Star Wars purchases above £145 / $160 / €160 from May 1 to 6 (or while stocks last) – which actually makes it the easiest of these sets to get hold of so far.
All other LEGO Star Wars lightsaber GWPs have been locked behind incredibly expensive Ultimate Collector Series or Master Builder Series sets, but you can buy absolutely anything from a galaxy far, far away to add 40917 The Darksaber to your collection (a much easier route to obtaining it than defeating its previous owner in combat).
In that way, the LEGO Group is taking a pretty different approach with what’s already a pretty different set to its contemporaries, recreating the handle of the storied Mandalorian weapon – which made the leap from animation to live action in The Mandalorian, appropriately enough – rather than a traditional lightsaber hilt.
If you want the complete collection and are starting from scratch now, though, you’re looking at spending a pretty penny on the aftermarket. Here’s a rundown of every one of these gifts-with-purchase to date, how they were originally given away and how much you can expect to pay for them now.
5006290 Yoda’s Lightsaber

The first set in this collection was available only when buying 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina at launch in September 2020, and sold out pretty much instantly. 5006290 Yoda’s Lightsaber is now very expensive to obtain via sources like BrickLink, where sealed copies start at around £125.
40483 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber

40483 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber (or Anakin’s, or Rey’s, if you prefer) was locked behind an even greater paywall, 2021’s 75313 AT-AT, but is actually a little bit cheaper on the secondary market. One BrickLink seller somehow has 212 of them at the time of writing, priced at £75 apiece.
40730 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber

Luke’s Return of the Jedi hilt was the most recent addition to the collection prior to the Darksaber, included with launch window purchases of
40917 The Darksaber

For good measure, here’s 40917 The Darksaber, which will be the easiest of the four sets to obtain so far when it launches on May 1. Start mapping out your LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2026 order now to ensure you get yours before it sells out –
