BrickLink Designer Program Series 5, day two: latest sales and limits

BrickLink Designer Program Series 5, day two: latest sales and limits

We’re firmly into the second day of crowdfunding for Series 5 of the BrickLink Designer Program, so here’s where sales and production numbers stand at the moment…

The LEGO Group’s dynamic approach to the total number of available sets this time round means this is the first series not to see any builds completely sell out within the first day. If the original 30,000 cap had remained in place, SleeplessNight’s Adventure in Transylvania would long since have sold out, while Krackenator’s The Thieves of Tortuga would only have a few copies left.

That’s because as things stand, those two fan-designed sets both have increased production runs, with a total of 50,000 copies of Adventure in Transylvania and 40,000 copies of The Thieves of Tortuga available to pre-order. At the time of writing, 87.4% of Transylvania’s quota has been claimed – or 43,700 sets – while Tortuga has sold 74.315% of its allocation, or 29,726 sets.

You can check out how the other three sets, which are all still capped at 30,000 units each, are selling in the table below (as of 10:30am BST, June 12). These stats have been pulled from the HTML code on BrickLink.

The LEGO Group’s limit increases for Transylvania and Tortuga came after crowdfunding had already started, in response to the higher demand for those two sets. There’s nothing to say it couldn’t raise the cap again if and when Transylvania sells 50,000 copies, nor that it won’t increase the Popcorn Wagon’s allocation again, having briefly raised it to 34,000 a couple of hours after launch only to bring it back down to 30,000 the next morning.

So while at this point those two look the most likely to sell out first, it’s impossible to say for sure. But if you’re still trying to decide whether to take the plunge on either of them, best not take the risk that more will be available – once they’re gone, you’ll have to turn to the aftermarket in six months’ time to get your hands on them.

Head here for everything you need to know about Series 5 of the BrickLink Designer Program, from when sets will ship to when you’ll be charged. (Hint: at the same time.) Crowdfunding for this round ends on June 24 at 12pm PT / 8pm BST, or when all sets sell out.
