Brand new LEGO colour debuts in summer 2025 Friends set

A LEGO Friends summer 2025 set will mark the debut of a brand new colour in the LEGO palette – but it’s not one we’re likely to see widely used just yet…

Among the next bumper wave of LEGO Friends sets coming on June 1 is 42654 Pony Ranch & Stable, a 727-piece build that includes things like mini-dolls, micro-dolls, ponies, a cat, a ranch and a working hay elevator. But what’s caught the eye of some fans is what appears to be a brand new shade of yellow on the mane of one of the ponies.

The set’s designer Wes Talbott has now confirmed on Instagram that we are indeed looking at a brand new hue in the LEGO palette, which is apparently called ‘Ochre Yellow’ internally at the LEGO Group. Colour names vary wildly between the company, the fan community and even BrickLink, so this one might also end up being better known as something else down the line.

It could take a while for it to earn any kind of alternative nomenclature, though, because Wes says Ochre Yellow will ‘likely mostly show up on animals and some new wigs’. So we probably won’t be seeing it used as the foundation for next year’s modular building – but never say never. Light nougat was once reserved almost exclusively for licensed minifigures, but found its way into the general colour palette for 10297 Boutique Hotel.

Parts junkies will also be pleased to see another couple of recolours in 42654 Pony Ranch & Stable, a set that’s doing its very best to find an audience beyond the typical LEGO Friends demographic. The tiny horse head that debuted in the Collectible Minifigures range and reappeared in 21062 Trevi Fountain in white returns again here in all black, while the modified 1x2 plate with claws is recoloured in green for the roof.
