Bought any LEGO Series 25 minifigures in the US? Let us know

We can now confirm the Brick Search minifigure scanner works for the Mexico-produced Series 25 boxes with the larger data matrix code on the bottom found in North America.

Thanks to everyone who tested the minifigure scanner and got in touch to let us know it works.

You can read on to find out how the Brick Search Series 25 minifigure scanner can identify which minifigure is inside which box, or download Brick Search for iOS here and Android here and start right away.

Good luck on your minifigure search!

(Updated January 11)

If you’re based in the US and have bought any LEGO Series 25 minifigures, let us know – your help could make finding specific characters easier than ever before.

71045 Series 25 debuted in LEGO Stores and at third-party retailers on January 1, introducing 12 new characters to the collection (and more importantly, a brand new goat). Tracking down each of the dozen new minifigures wasn’t easy at first – they are once again packaged in cardboard boxes, making for a truly blind purchase – but a code found on the bottom of certain boxes has unlocked a new way to identify their contents.

The Brick Search app came up with a way to scan this code and find out in seconds what’s inside each box. They’ve been able to test it on boxes produced for the UK and EU and it works – see the screen recording of the app in action below – but the codes on the boxes produced for North America are different.

So if you’re in North America and have one or more 71045 Series 25 minifigures to hand (including their boxes), you can download Brick Search (here for iOS and here for Android) and try it out yourself. It’ll only take a minute or two to scan all 12 minifigure boxes – you just need to make sure your box has the larger of the two data matrix codes on it, as per the image below.

It’s a very small thing that won’t take up a bunch of your time, and you’ll be helping out the entire LEGO community in doing so. Think of it as an act of public service, except the public here is LEGO fans hoping to grab a pet goat rather than a pet groomer. If you try it and it works, please let andrew@tiromedia.co.uk know – he worries about these things.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to assist.
