Co-chairman and CEO of DC Studios James Gunn has shared a humorous video confirming Bat-Mite’s role in the upcoming LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight video game.
Set to release on May 22, the fourth entry in the LEGO Batman series features an open-world adventure spanning multiple eras of the Caped Crusader’s history. TT Games Head of Production Jonathan Smith previously revealed that Bat-Mite would appear in the game as a non-playable character, and fans were later quick to spot a sign in an earlier trailer reading ‘Bat-Mite. The Store’, teasing his in-game role.

Now, in the latest snippet, fans have finally been given a look inside that shop, confirming that the mischievous 5th-dimensional imp will indeed be running his own in-game store where players can spend studs rather than real money.
The shop features a variety of Batsuits, as well as other items for use in-game and display in the Batcave. The scene also shows Batman playing the guitar, a playful nod to The LEGO Batman Movie.
In a tongue-in-cheek nod to modern gaming trends, Bat-Mite even pokes fun at microtransactions during the segment. However, the clip ends with a slate revealing that higher-priced pre-orders of the game will include bonus items – a detail that lands slightly awkwardly alongside the joke.
This marks Bat-Mite’s first in-game appearance since LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2014, with his absence from LEGO DC Super-Villains in 2018 making his return a welcome surprise for long-time fans.
The character also appeared in the 2020 DC Super Heroes Collectible Minifigures series, and remains available on BrickLink, complete with stand and accessories, typically priced around £5.99.

Bat-Mite is a cult-classic DC character who first appeared in 1959. A 5th-dimensional imp and self-proclaimed admirer of Batman, he frequently causes chaos while attempting to help his hero in his own uniquely disruptive way.
Gunn’s involvement adds to the character’s recent resurgence in DC media. Bat-Mite was previously referenced in Peacemaker Season 1, and while fans have long speculated about his wider future in live-action, Gunn has suggested not everything in the series should be taken as canon – meaning a big-screen appearance remains possible, but far from confirmed.
