A giant, 4,000-piece Ministry of Magic is reportedly on the way later this year, so here are 10 things we want to see from the next LEGO Harry Potter flagship set.
The first word on the 2026 LEGO Harry Potter direct-to-consumer set surfaced earlier today, pointing to 76XXX Ministry of Magic D2C arriving in September 2026, comprised of around 4,000 pieces. There’s not much else to go on at this point, but given our only magical government building to date has been 2022’s 76403 Ministry of Magic – a 990-piece playset pictured up top – there’s plenty of potential here for something more.
With that in mind, here are 10 things we’d love to see from this rumoured set. Let us know if there’s something else you’d particularly like to see in the comments.
10 – Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows scenes and characters

The Ministry of Magic plays a pretty big role in two Harry Potter films: the Order of the Phoenix and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Maybe the topmost request here then is that 76XXX Ministry of Magic D2C uses its expansive piece count to pull from both movies, including characters and scenes from each one – even if that means doubling up on characters.
LEGO Harry Potter is no stranger to that concept in its flagship sets, after all, including multiple versions of minifigures in sets such as 75978 Diagon Alley, 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition and
9 – Telephone and toilet entrances
With both films in play, we’d love to see the LEGO Group somehow incorporate both means by which Harry accesses the Ministry of Magic: by telephone booth in the Order of the Phoenix, and by public toilet in the Deathly Hallows. These could just be small builds adjacent to the main structure, like the phone booth in 76403 Ministry of Magic, but finding a way to incorporate a mechanism that takes minifigures through each entryway and into the Ministry would be the cherry on top.
8 – A Floo network mechanism
Speaking of mechanisms… the LEGO Group has recreated the Floo network a couple of times before in bricks, and given it’s a prominent means by which wizards and witches enter the Ministry of Magic, we’re hoping to see it return in the 2026 set – perhaps refined even further from 2024’s 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network gift-with-purchase (pictured above).
7 – Harry’s hearing

One of the first major scenes in the Ministry of Magic takes place near the beginning of the Order of the Phoenix, when Harry is summoned for a disciplinary hearing for using magic outside school. Incorporating this hearing into the LEGO Ministry of Magic D2C would be a great way to fold in a couple of new characters we might not otherwise see, including Arabella Figg and Amelia Bones.
6 – The Hall of Prophecy

While 76403 Ministry of Magic includes a small representation of the Hall of Prophecy, there’s potential for something much grander in a D2C set that better reflects how aesthetically unique the Department of Mysteries room is on-screen in the Order of the Phoenix – especially with a mechanism to send its glass orbs cascading from shelves.
5 – The Death Chamber

The other key Department of Mysteries area that feels like a requirement in any Ministry of Magic D2C is the Death Chamber (although the LEGO set might not refer to it as such) where Bellatrix Lestrange murders Sirius Black. This is quite a barren room in the movie, so it could just be a small part of the LEGO set that incorporates the veil through which Sirius falls.
4 – Dumbledore and Voldemort’s duel

One moment in the movies that would give the LEGO Harry Potter designers room to incorporate some real visual flair into a Ministry of Magic set is Voldemort and Dumbledore’s duel in the Order of the Phoenix. Chances are we’d just get some of those fancy magical spell elements from sets like 76415 The Battle of Hogwarts, but a brick-built representation of the sheet of water that surrounds Voldemort, or the snake that Dumbledore casts from his wand, could be really distinctive.
At a bare minimum here we’d expect to see some attempt at recreating the enchanted statues that defend Harry and Dumbledore during the duel, perhaps using golden minifigures. We’re probably more likely to get that statue than the ‘Magic is Might’ alternative from Deathly Hallows, anyway…
3 – A lift or two

Notably missing from 76403 Ministry of Magic – and understandably so given its size – are the lifts that wizards and witches use to get around the building, and in which Harry, Ron and Hermione find themselves while in disguise in the Deathly Hallows. With some 4,000 pieces on the table for the rumoured 2026 set, a lift or two to travel between floors seems not only likely but necessary.
2 – Umbridge’s office

Another area seen in a small way in the 2022 set, Umbridge’s office is one of the most visually distinct areas in the entire Ministry of Magic, and feels essential for a set that presumably hopes to do justice to the location to a greater degree than its playset predecessor. The bright pink colour scheme clashes in the best way with the dark green and black building, and is ripe for details and references.
1 – Book references

Did someone say references? We’re bound to get plenty from across both movies in which the Ministry appears – the LEGO Harry Potter theme has form for it – but what we’d really like to see are a couple of fun nods to events and rooms only seen in the books. To give one example, printed (or stickered…) tiles could reference the brain room and love room in the Department of Mysteries.
While the source for this rumour is generally pretty reliable, it still shouldn’t be taken as gospel until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. And with a September 2026 release date on the table, that might be a ways off yet – so best to treat it lightly for now.
Still, speculation is all part of the fun, so don’t forget to chime in with your hopes and dreams for a LEGO Ministry of Magic D2C in the comments.
