The LEGO Group set a new record for the most expensive LEGO set ever in 2025 – but what else is at the upper end of the price scale this year?
Pricing has been a topic of hot contention in the LEGO community this year, with LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star setting the record for the most expensive LEGO set ever. However, it's not just been that set that has raised some eyebrows, with the price tags of sets like 10366 Tropical Aquarium also sparking criticism.
With dozens of LEGO sets hitting shelves this year, we've picked out the most expensive, coming up with the top 10 most expensive price tags of the year. Some slots have more than one set, as some LEGO models have the same price, so there are actually 14 sets on this list.
No prizes for guessing what's at number one, but let's dive into the runners-up.
10 – 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle
Price: £239.99 / $279.99 / €269.99 Pieces: 3,455 Release date: Aug 1, 2025

21063 Neuschwanstein Castle made its debut on August 1, bringing a taste of European Alpine beauty to the LEGO Architecture theme. Made up of 3,455 pieces, the castle model brings all of the detail and delicacy that you'd expect from an Architecture LEGO set of this size – and you'll need to shell out £239.99 / $279.99 / €269.99 to build it for yourself, just edging it onto this list.
9 – 21359 Italian Riviera
Price: £249.99 / $299.99 / €279.99 Pieces: 3,251 Release date: Aug 7, 2025

£10 more expensive, 21359 Italian Riviera was designed by fan designer Alex Sahli, carving out a little piece of small-town Italian life. The vibrant colours are the most eye-catching feature on this set, but looking closer only rewards you with still more play features and storytelling details.
8 – 75409 Jango Fett's Starship
Price: £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 2,970 Release date: May 1, 2025

LEGO Star Wars in particular has come under fire this year for its high prices, and 75409 Jango Fett's Starship has come into land at number eight with a cost of £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99. While the ship itself is undoubtedly impressive, some fans felt that the lack of detail on the Young Boba minifigure in particular was disappointing at this price point.
7 – 21363 The Goonies / 41843 Family Christmas Tree / 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant / 76300 Arkham Asylum
Price: £269.99 / $329.99 / €299.99 Pieces: 2,912 / 3,171 / 3,402 / 2,953 Release date: Nov 1, 2025 / Oct 1, 2025 / Aug 1, 2025 / Sep 9, 2025
We've got our first tied place at number seven. No less than four LEGO sets across four different themes have the same price of £269.99 / $329.99 / €299.99: 21363 The Goonies, 41843 Family Christmas Tree, 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant, and 76300 Arkham Asylum.
Interestingly, 41843 Family Christmas Tree is the only non-licensed set on this list, and it certainly does feel expensive for what you get. While it's a fantastic display piece, especially at this time of year, it feels like a lot for something that you realistically will only be using for about one month of each year.
6 – 21356 River Steamboat
Price: £289.99 / $329.99 / €329.99 Pieces: 4,090 Release date: Apr 7, 2025

Next up is 21356 River Steamboat, priced at £289.99 / $329.99 / €329.99. Another LEGO Ideas set, this 4,090-piece ship is an homage to the olden days on the water, packed with authentic details and old-fashioned quirks.
5 – 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship
Price: £299.99 / $379.99 / €349.99 Pieces: 2,862 Release date: Sep 12, 2025

Another ship with a far smaller piece count but a slightly higher price is proof of how much difference a license and a different style can make. 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship retails for £299.99 / $379.99 / €349.99 and marks the long-awaited return of Pirates of the Caribbean to the LEGO system. As well as looking the part, it features some incredible play features, including synchronised cannons and fabric sails.
4 – 10356 Enterprise NCC-1701-D / 76457 Hogsmeade Village Collectors' Edition
Price: £349.99 / $399.99 / €379.99 Pieces: 3,600 / 3,228 Release date: Nov 28, 2025 / Sep 1, 2025
Our second and final joint spot is shared between 10356 Enterprise NCC-1701-D and 76457 Hogsmeade Village Collectors' Edition. Two licensed sets that couldn't be more different from one another, but both are priced at £349.99 / $399.99 / €379.99. The former is the very first LEGO Star Trek set ever, with nine exclusive minifigures locked behind that hefty paywall.
3 – 42215 Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator
Price: £349.99 / $429.99 / €399.99 Pieces: 2,359 Release date: Aug 1, 2025

In third place comes LEGO Technic 42215 Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator, a 2,359-piece crane priced at £349.99 / $429.99 / €399.99. We've put this one higher on the list, as the European and American prices are higher than those that come before, despite it being the same price in the UK. It features the expected array of impressive technical features, including a working gearbox that can move the excavator’s boom and arm.
2 – 10366 Tropical Aquarium
Price: £399.99 / $479.99 / €449.99 Pieces: 4,154 Release date: Nov 13, 2025

A controversial entry on this list, many slammed 10366 Tropical Aquarium for its £399.99 / $479.99 / €449.99 price, arguing that you're essentially paying for a lot of empty space. The hefty piece count is made all the heftier due to the plain black frame, which many would prefer it were without, wanting more of an underwater diorama than a tank. Nonetheless, stock went on back order quickly in many locations, so the price seemingly hasn't put off too many people.
1 – 75419 Death Star
Price: £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99 Pieces: 9,023 Release date: Oct 1, 2025

And...no surprises here, but the record-breaking 75419 Death Star is at the top of the list, with an eye-watering price tag of £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99. It's the very first $1,000 LEGO set, and the community is still largely divided on the LEGO Star Wars UCS set. For a taste of what the Brick Fanatics team thought, here's what we were all prepared to pay for this enormous brick-built war machine.
